Understanding the Concept of “logic” for Critical Thinking Subject

ABSTRACT

Is critical thinking subject a sub-discipline of logic? To answer this, the concept of ‘logic’ must be examined. In this paper, I argue the following threes: First, the most desirable way to understand the meaning of the term ‘logic’ is to analyze the notion of ‘inference’. Second, there is no third logic which we should take into account in teaching critical thinking. Finally, we need to teach not only the standard deductive inferences and inductive inferences but their basic forms in the classroom.
