ABSTRACT

This study examined parenting efficacy’s mediating role in the relationships of family strength and social capital (trust, network, participation, and norms) with female marriage immigrants’ life satisfaction. In total, 198 female marriage immigrants residing in Korea were surveyed. Data were analyzed through regression analysis and bootstrapping (5,000 resamples) using SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS Macro 5.0. The results revealed that family strength significantly positively affected both parenting efficacy and life satisfaction. Among social capital’s sub-dimensions, trust, network, and participation significantly and directly affected life satisfaction, whereas norms did not. Parenting efficacy partially mediated the effects of family strength and trust on life satisfaction, while it fully mediated the effects of network, participation, and norms. Clearly, parenting efficacy serves as a critical psychological mechanism through which social capital is translated into life satisfaction. This study provides valuable empirical evidence for an integrated policy approach that links family-based interventions with parenting capacity-building to support female marriage immigrants.
