ABSTRACT

Objectives: The current Web novel is so flooded that it is difficult to distinguish it as a characteristic. In addition, I think it is necessary to reconsider the perception of classification or classification in terms of renewing research methods on Webnovels. Already, the market and readers do not put much importance on genre classification. The new genre name is fixed as writers, web platforms, and readers make it at their own convenience and spread, and as this phenomenon continues, it is producing various hybridizations. Methods: This study aims to examine how negotiations and mixed patterns between genres, which began with the fusion of popular novels, are revealed in web novels. And through this process, we will present new criteria and methods for classifying ‘genre’ in web novels. Conclusions: The concept of web novels and the hybrid aspect of works are familiar to the market and readers of web novels, but unfamiliar to researchers. In order to revitalize research, it is necessary to understand this. Hashtags are a way of web novel content that can be enjoyed using a smartphone. Currently, in the web novel market, detailed characteristics and classification of web novels are being attempted using hashtags. Therefore, web novels need to apply a new classification method through hashtags.
