ABSTRACT

Objectives: This article deals with the story of a Korean fox. And the core of the discussion is to look at how the shape of a fox with transcendent abilities changes. The aspect of the transcendence of foxes was examined for works such as “Wonggwangseohak”, “Kang Gam-chan”, “Jeon Woo-chijeon”, and “Ihwajeon”. Methods: Through public and synchronous research methods of works such as “Wonggwangseohak”, “Kang Gam-chan”, “Jeon Woo-chijeon”, and “Ihwajeon”, the aspect of transcendence and transformation of foxes were examined. Conclusions: In “Wongwangseohak”, foxes appeared as gods that contributed to Wonkwang's rise to the level of the divine spirit as a new skill. In addition, “Kang Gam-chan” has a godlike character that gives birth to heroes, and it was confirmed that the transcendence of foxes has the ability and causality of Kang Gam-chan. In these two works, foxes were considered to have divine transcendence in that they contribute positively to humans. On the other hand, in “Jeon Woo-chijeon”, it was revealed that foxes have a double personality that helps Jeon Woo-chi acquire magic and commits evil deeds at the same time. And in “Ihwajeon”, it was examined that foxes are strongly exposed to eccentric transcendence as monsters that harm people through transformation. It has been confirmed that the fox's ability to transform extends not only to humans but also to gods, and based on this, it is developing revenge against Ewha. It was discovered that foxes with transcendent character showed divine transcendence in the early days and are transforming into beings with eccentric transcendence in the late stages
