ABSTRACT

Objectives: With the declaration of the digital humanities, ‘digital technology’ has been illuminated as one of the new methodologies of study in the humanities field. In the field of Korean Chinese literature, various studies have been published applying digital humanities methods according to this trend. This article aims to examine the research results based on the digital humanities method in the field of Chinese literature and present future applications and alternatives. Methods: Since 2010, when the digital humanities declaration was made, the results of research that applied the digital humanities methodology submitted in the field of Chinese literature will be summarized and its significance will be examined. It aims to systematically examine the meaning and complementary points of each research result. Conclusions: As a result of analyzing the research results, visualization of humanities information through digital technology, knowledge map construction, and automatic classical processing were suggested. This work is possible after a vast amount of Chinese literature data has been accumulated. Therefore, the first thing to do is to organize the existing database more substantially and expand the area of data that have not yet been secured. And for this work, the digital humanities spirit of “openness, sharing, and collaboration” is needed.
