Objectives: The study is to discuss the theater supporting business of public institutions. Therefore, the study sets Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture which has been showing a model case in supporting business as analyzing agency of theater supporting business. In order to deepen the discussion over such supporting business of culture foundation, the study focuses Busan area where practices theatrical culture through hosting various musical festivals locally and internationally as well as executes bouncy activities of Korea’s major drama companies such as Yeonhuidan Street Theatre Troup.
Methods: In the 2nd chapter, in order to understand culture foundation, characteristics and features of general culture foundation and culture foundation in Seoul and Busan metropolitan areas as well as supporting business of artistic creation are overall examined and then, theater support business that each culture foundation is examined in the 3rd and 4th chapters. Finally in the 5th chapter, gives the entire picture of meaning and limitation of theater supporting business that each culture foundation drives currently and is finished by presenting the direction of theater supporting business in culture foundation to go.
Conclusions: Unless a play is a commercial play, it is difficult to survive only by audience income. Therefore, the Seoul Cultural Foundation and the Busan Cultural Foundation are providing systematic support to various art genres, creative fields, and emerging fields as well as theater. In order for these support projects to succeed, the execution power of the beneficiaries who received the support is necessary. And for this, a solid implementation organization must be formed within the theater world.
