AB - This study examines the possibility of transforming local cultural heritage into K-local cultural content by focusing on Jun-gyeongmyo, Yeong-gyeongmyo, and the reenactment of the Gangwon-do Governor’s Bongsim ceremony in Samcheok. Jun-gyeongmyo and Yeong-gyeongmyo are known as the tombs of Yi Yang-mu, the fifth-generation ancestor of King Taejo, founder of the Joseon dynasty, and his wife. These sites are significant not only as royal ancestral tombs, but also as symbolic spaces that preserve narratives of dynastic origin, royal legitimacy, and imperial memory during the Korean Empire. The 2026 Bongsim reenactment reinterpreted a former royal ritual as a participatory cultural event through ceremonial processions, historical trekking, rubbing experiences, and royal costume programs. By converting historical memory into bodily experience and public participation, the event demonstrated how regional heritage can move beyond preservation and become a living cultural resource. This study argues that Jun-gyeongmyo and Yeong-gyeongmyo offer a meaningful model for developing sustainable K-local cultural content rooted in historical storytelling.
