ABSTRACT

This study classified the cultural competencies of 35 family center workers through the Q methodology in order to confirm the perception of multicultural social workers on cultural competencies. As a result, three types were derived. Type 1 is a ‘universal, practical expertise-oriented’ that places importance on practical expertise as a multicultural social welfare provider. Type 2 is a ‘practical and social solidarity-oriented’ that recognizes that the competencies required in the multicultural era are social solidarity for coexistence. Type 3 is a ‘relative, capacity-oriented’ that recognizes the need for cultural capacity building education to accommodate desirable multiculturalism. The results of this study will be used as basic data for setting the direction of multicultural social welfare services.
