ABSTRACT

This study aims to propose ways to improve Korean language education for Vietnamese workers who work in Korea on a non-professional visa. First of all, we looked at the EPS-TOPIK preparatory class's Korean language education status opened in 11 private Vietnamese language institutes, compulsory employment education before and after entering Korea, and Korean language education institutions for foreign workers in Korea. In addition, a 37-item questionnaire was conducted for Vietnamese workers on the learning patterns of Korean before and after entering Korea, work life, and Korean use, and 69 responses were secured. Among them, five workers were interviewed in-depth for about 50 minutes per person. As a result, it was found that there was a strong demand for spoken language education, online courses, self-study education materials, and Korean workplace culture education. Based on the analysis results, it was proposed to systematize Korean language education in stages from job preparation to work life, diversify and expand the educational materials, and revitalize Korean workplace culture education as a way to improve Korean language education for Vietnamese workers.
