Qualifications for Paper Submission
1. The corresponding author must be a member of the Korean Society for Developmental Psychology with no unpaid dues (including the submission year).
2. A reviewing fee of ₩100,000 for papers written in Korean (₩60,000 won for a revised submission) or ₩150,000 for papers written in English (₩90,000 won for a revised submission) must be paid with the manuscript submission. Payment should be made to the following account: KakaoBank 3333-25-4636134(recipient name: Yang A Reum).
3. After an editorial board review, a submitted manuscript might proceed to the review stage.
Peer Review Process
1. Reviewer Assignments
The editorial board assigns reviewers to determine if a manuscript is suitable for publication, needs revision, or is unsuitable for publication. Potential reviewers include contributors in fields relevant to developmental psychology individuals who have psychology-related degrees and have exhibited outstanding achievements. The reviewers are selected by the Editor-In-Chief based on board members input. Three reviewers in relevant fields are assigned to each manuscript.
2. Manuscript Evaluation
1) For an empirical study, the reviewers will consider the following items:
· appropriateness and comprehensiveness of the abstract;
· appropriateness of the prior research review and its relevance to the current research topic or hypothesis;
· validity of the Research Method;
· appropriateness of the Results and Discussion;
· validity of the Discussion; and
· issues related to the manuscript format.
2) For an overview or a theoretical literature review, the reviewers will consider the following items:
· appropriateness and comprehensiveness of the abstract;
· novelty of the current research topic;
· comprehensiveness of the literature reviewed;
· logical presentation of the content;
· theoretical significance;
· practical significance; and
· issues related to the manuscript format.
3) Reviewer Decisions
Each reviewer selects one of following decisions each manuscript:
· Acceptance;
· Acceptance with minor revisions;
· Major revisions and re-review; or
· Rejection
3. Overall Evaluation and Next Steps
1) The overall evaluation and next steps of a manuscript are determined by the editorial board based on reviewer input.
2) If three reviewers select Acceptance, the editorial board selects Acceptance.
3) If two reviewers select Acceptance and one reviewer selects Major revisions and re-review or Rejection, the author(s) must submit a revised manuscript based on the reviewers’ comments and submit a confirmation of revision,a separate document that responds to the reviewers’ comments. The editorial board makes the final decision whether to publish the revised manuscript.
4) If one reviewer selects Acceptance or Acceptance with minor revisions and two reviewers select Major revisions and re-review or Rejection, the editorial board makes the final decision between resubmission or rejection. If the editorial board selects resubmission, the manuscript may be re-reviewed for the next issue or the issue after that. The author(s) must submit a revised manuscript and a confirmation of revision. The revised manuscript and confirmation of revision are re-reviewed by the two reviewers who previously selected Major revisions and re-review or Rejection and by one newly appointed reviewer.
5) If two reviewers select Acceptance or Acceptance with minor revisions and one reviewer selects Rejection, the editorial board makes the final decision between Acceptance with minor revisions or Major revisions and re-review.
6) If two reviewers select Major revisions and re-review and one reviewer selects Rejection, the editorial board makes the final decision between Major revisions and re-review and Rejection.
7) When two or more reviewers select Rejection, the editorial board selects Rejection.
8) If a manuscript requires re-review upon resubmission, another resubmission and re-review is allowed. If a manuscript requires re-review upon the second resubmission, the editorial board selects Rejection.
9) A rejected manuscript may be submitted for publication in a future issue with newly appointed reviewers.
10) If an existing reviewer is unavailable to re-review a manuscript, the Editor-In-Chief appoints a new reviewer.
4. The result of the overall evaluation is sent to the corresponding author via email.
5. For an accepted manuscript, the corresponding author may request a Certificate of publication acceptance prior to publication.
6. For an accepted manuscript, a revised manuscript and Confirmation of revision must be submitted. In addition, a publishing fee must be paid as follows: (1) For a manuscript with no research funding, ₩200,000 for a 15-page paper (plus ₩20,000 per additional page) and ₩15,000 for proofreading the English abstract should be paid. (2) For a manuscript with research funding, ₩300,000 for a 15-page paper (plus ₩20,000 per additional page) and ₩15,000 for proofreading the English abstract should be paid. Payment should be made to the following account: KakaoBank 3333-25-4636134(recipient name: Yang A Reum).
7. Other Instructions
1) A revised manuscript should reflect the reviewers’ comments, and the confirmation of revision should respond to the reviewers’ comments.
2) When author opinions differ from reviewer comments on an issue, the editorial board resolves the matter.
3) If an issue rendering a manuscript unfit for publication is found (e.g., plagiarism), the Editor-In-Chief can withdraw the publication after an editorial board discussion.
4) The journal is published quarterly on the 15th of March, June, September, and December. Due dates for manuscript submission are the 15th of January, April, July, and October, respectively.
