ABSTRACT

The purposes of this study are to compare medicine management system and actual conditions of abservance of labelling in Korea with those in other countries. Consumer has no option but to depend on in-product labelling because of purchasing and using OTC(medicine for over the counter) without medical doctor or dentist's prescription. Therefore, it is required to have following qualifications to supply safety OTC to consumer. First, we need to set high standards of OTC labelling. Second, pharmaceutical company must follow OTC labelling rules. Third, consumer can fully understand the meaning of OTC labelling. To achieve this, we studied county medicine management system and comparative analysis on actual conditions of abservance of Korea, China, America and Japan. As a result, this research provides several implications. First, we need to develop a system for clear understanding the OTC directions. Second, it is important to raise consumers' understanding and read-ability of in-product directions. Finally, we need to improve the labelling method of packaging for better using OTC to consumer.
