ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is finding of affecting the mental health of nursing college freshmen, to provide to education direction and support in order to maintain stable mental health of nursing student. We investigated depression, anxiety in negative internal state, social support, positive and negative life orientation, positive and negative self-evaluation to 223 nursing freshmen. The data was performed descriptive statistics, pearson correlation, one sample t-test, regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 program. The results that the positive correlation between anxiety, depression and(positive) life orientation; anxiety, depression and core self-evaluation scale; negative correlation between anxiety, depression and(negative) life orientation; anxiety, depression and social support(family, friends, significant person). Core self-evaluation effects on life orientation, anxiety effects on depression. Social support partially mediated the relationship between life orientation and anxiety. The findings of this study could be used to improve the quality of social support the student receive. It suggested that curriculum in nursing college provide for their students to curriculum which students can evaluate themselves so that their should be a positive in order to maintain internal state of nursing students.
