ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the targets, causes, and expression of anger of young children for their anger management. A total 128 participants completed a survey developed by the present author. Targets, causes, and expression styles of anger of young children were investigated with open-ended questionnaires and interviews with 64 children and their mothers. As a result, it has been found that the targets of anger of young children, to whom the anger is caused and expressed, are five categories; siblings, peers, parents, themselves, and environments. The causes of anger of young children can be categorized into five dimensions; psychological, bodily, social, physical and verbal dimension. Anger-expression styles can be divided into three dimensions; anger-out, anger-in, and anger-control efforts. This results were discussed in anger of young children.
