AB - 梁启超的戏剧理论和戏剧创作在中国戏剧现代化过程中发挥了极大作用。他的戏剧创作标志着中国戏剧创作现代化的开始，其中蕴含着丰富多样的现代性。但是，迄今为止，学术界对梁启超戏剧创作的现代性是认识不足的，这是因为五四时期以后的中国学术界习惯于从西方化的角度来给现代性定位，而这种看待现代性的视野是过于单一和狭窄的。本论文力图扩大我们看待现代性的视野，主张晚清以来在与世界各国文学不断交流的语境中所产生的中国以前自身传统所未曾有的新的文学创作特征，都可以视为现代性的表现。本文依据上述现代性概念，集中考察了梁启超戏剧创作上所表现的现代性特征。梁启超戏剧创作的现代性无疑是多方面的，而本文着重考察了其中最重要的叁个方面，即现代新思想观念的表现、对于民族国家的寓言再现、戏剧艺术表现手法上的多种试验。本文认为梁启超戏剧创作的现代性具有多元性、开放性、未来指向性的特点，而上述特点的产生，主要在于梁启超对于戏剧创作的思考，不仅考虑到当时观众的娱乐要求、接受水平和剧场效果，而且考虑到戏剧对于中国社会所能发挥的思想文化影响，同时还考虑到戏剧创作对于中国戏剧、中国文化未来发展方向的预示和推动作用。梁启超戏剧创作所表现的现代性特征以及他对戏剧创作的思考，对于今天世界各个发展中国家的戏剧家和批评家来说仍然具有重要的启示作用，因为他们需要处理是与梁启超同样的问题，即本民族戏剧的现代化和现代性问题。
