AB - This paper try to give a new perspective of how to see the war and peace. Rienhold Niebuhr who represents a Christian ethics insist a just war. Christian statement about just war was a main stream after Augustinus. In this article I want to introduce John Yorder's ethics of peace whom is a christian ethician and he is opposed to Just war. Jorder is a anabaptist and he was faithful to the Bible, and he thought that action is important. What influenced him was the vision of anabaptism, the theology of Karl Barth, and Biblical realism. Yorder considers Jesus' Word and his life as the model of which Christians should follow. As a result, his ethics is focused on Jesus.
At the same time, he tried to focus on what christians church should do. Especially I will try to develop the ethics of peace according to Christology. Yorder thought the ethics of cross as the core of Christianism, and he thought that christians should follow Jesus. Yorder insisted that Christianism was decayed when it became as the National religion, and he pointed it as a Constantinianism. Yorder thought that this kind of perversion lead to the opinion of agreeing just war. Yorder said that what Jesus wanted was peace, and a church should be a group which makes come true of Pacifism. The opinion of this statement has its merits and demerits, but it makes us to think what kind of life should the christian live.
