ABSTRACT

This study examines what it is like to live as a Christian on the Korean Peninsula today. Since theology plays a unique role in itself, this study is conducted through the idea of Soon-Kyung Park’s unification theology. This theology is the contextual and memorable theology of the Korean Peninsula and its history. Its context and methodology have universal analytical and academic research and a structure that can expand discussions. In this study, this point is considered the starting point for revitalizing the discussion of unification theology and the unification movement, which is needed to reappraise, reinterpret, and reconstruct for laying the philosophical cornerstone of unification theology. This study examines unification theology as a text using the lens of Kant’s ‘rational religion,’ which can suggest alternatives to a new society and provides an arena for dialogue from the reader’s point of view to analyze the division on the Korean Peninsula in more depth. This study is conducted to expand the scope of communication between faith and reason, facilitate discussions about the social evil of the divisional system from the unique perspectives of theology, and establish a theoretical foundation for the roles of individuals and communities in these conversations.
