ABSTRACT

This paper aims to analyze the view of Christian sanctification in Jonggyogyeoi Jemyeongsa Gangyeonjip(1922) in the early era of Japanese cultural policy. Sanctification consists in a divine operation in the spirit, whereby the holy disposition is strengthened and its holy exercises are increased. I considered the prominent discourses on the Christian sanctification in this book as follows. Firstly, I treated with the organic interrelationship between salvation and sanctification from the viewpoint of cause and effect and Christian repentance on the basis of heart-warming theory and motivative ethics, focusing on Ik-Sang Won’s “Human Responsibility” and Gi-Pung Lee’s “New Man”, and so on. Secondly, I concentrated on Christian stewardship, altruistic love for neighbours, achieving justice, focusing on Seok-Won Han’s “Self-Awareness of Responsibility”, Chang-Jun Kim’s “The Greatest Model”, Pil-Su Kim’s “The Greatest Commemoration”, Gyeong-Sang Yu’s “Power of Justice”, and so forth. Thirdly, I centered the point on practical implication of Christian sanctification such as destruction of mammonism, elimination of sexual sins and rotten culture, anti-drinking and anti-smoking, focusing on Gyu-Chan Kang’s “Praise of Love”, Du-Song Kang’s “Women’s Issue”, Dong-Wan Park’s “Consistent Sincerity”.
