ABSTRACT

This study aims to explore the theological and pastoral tasks of Christian churches in the era of global disasters. The era of global disaster is a dystopian time in which the dream of a peaceful and prosperous world disappears, and each nation pursues its own survival. In these dark times, the theological task of Christianity is to provide vision and hope for a new world through the biblical vision of Shalom and the Kingdom of God.To realize the Shalom vision of a safe and prosperous world, churches must strive to carry out the following practical tasks: Firstly, they should address questions about pain and evil from an ethical and pastoral perspective rather than through traditional theodicy. Secondly, they need to educate global citizens who can think and act responsibly on a global level, beyond a tribal mindset. Lastly, they must cultivate and practice various virtues necessary in the era of global disasters. This includes showing hospitality to refugees and strangers resulting from global disasters, offering relief and service to those who are suffering, and fostering the virtue of frugality to help people escape from the greed for more and more.
