AB - This thesis is to investigate effectiveness of face to face correction in a general writing class of college, and to find right teaching method and instruction model. Advantages of face to face correction compared with other corrections are as follows.
First, face to face correction considers a position of learners rather than a position of professors. Above all things, face to face correction can teach and correct writing 1:1, coming face to face, so can be more detailed than other corrections. In addition, graded education is possible according to writing characteristics of individual students in face to face correction, so this correction is effective correction exceeding general and conventional correction. Second, face to face correction is targeting writing, but can be paired with speaking education. Third, face to face correction helps direct emotional consensus between professor and student through writing. This can be connected to a mentoring system of college.
Therefore, colleges should expand writing class using correction to be connected to correction education until the upper grades. It should not be just one‐off thing, and correction class of writing related to major should be continued. In addition, to make learners fix a subject themselves, various methods from brainstorming to group discussion should be used. Learners should feel accomplishment by fixing writing material they want to write, organizing writing, and completing a whole piece of writing. Face to face correction is the most effective method to acquire and train this writing course.
