ABSTRACT

University students recognize online writing as a means of communication and do more online writing activities than offline. Online writing obscures the distinction between the author of writing and the inmate who reads it, given that it enables immediate interaction. As a result, two-way communication functions are strengthened rather than one-way communication. Online writing also reflects the characteristics of online writing. In analog writing, logical, systematic, and complete writing is a good writing. However, online writing is aimed at effectively conveying one's opinions and at the same time receiving attention from others. Thus, the strategy of online writing appears to be short writing, attracting attention with provocative titles, using online memes, and writing comments. A survey of university students found that they are doing more writing online, while at the same time focusing on the negative aspects of online writing, should be improved. Therefore, it is necessary for universities to provide writing education that reflects online characteristics. Online writing education at universities should move toward writing centered on communication functions, writing reflecting online characteristics, and online writing education from a long-term perspective.
