AB - The purpose of this study is present examples of university writing class using flipped learning and ways to improve it. To this end, this study presented a pilot case of university writing class using flipped learning, and conducted on the survey to examine students' perception of flipped learning application in university writing class.
The flipped learning class, which was pilot-operated in this study, provided a total of 7 lessons of learning video, and was conducted in the manner of peer feedback during class. Students were generally satisfied with these flipped learning methods and responded that it helped them improve their writing skills. However, due to the characteristics of the university's writing courses, many students felt burdened by having to take part in separate pre-learning sessions in addition to carrying out their assignments.
Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a way to reduce the burden of students on participation in pre-learning. This study suggested that learning videos should be produced for more than 10 to less than 20 minutes, and with content that students can use both before and after class. It also suggested that students should be able to feel the effects of flipped learning class, including student participation activities that help improve their writing skills during class.
This study is meaningful in that it revealed the effects and problems of university writing class using flipped learning based on student perception results. It is also meaningful in that it did not only pay attention to the effects of writing class using flipped learning, but also suggested ways to improve it considering the characteristics of university writing subjects.
