AB - In this paper, the meaning of the 'America' in SooYoung Kim's literary works will be demonstrated. He frequently expressed the 'America' using typical keywords of the United States culture in his text, e.g., experience in the Korean War and concentration camp, American magazine and actor. Therefore, this characteristic in his work is an important clue to understand the effect of the United States to Korean literature in postwar days. On the road to study the effect, it will be taken concrete shape how his viewpoint and perception of reality had been changed.
