AB - I've researched for women's self-realization thru betrayal motif in romance novels by female writers. in the case where the romantic relationship did not end up in marriage, it could have been a mere conclusion for male but it became a severe breakpoint for female. Sometimes women utilized suicide as a means of resistance against the male authority. However, soon realized the reality of being abandoned and tried not to lose the self-assurance.
Moreover, it is worth focusing that rather than expressing the anger and wrath against the betrayal from men, pure feelings of love and communication between men and women was portrayed in the novels.
Which basically means that when men simply desired the romantic relationship, women focused in the realistic issues and life after the relationship with men.
It has the significant meaning that it was the path where the modern women had to bore the era solely on their own and the concept of romantic relationship showed modernization of romantic relationship itself in terms of real life and feelings.
The fact that female writers of that time wrote about diverse romantic relationship between men and women and inner and outer conflict within, not the chastity and betrayal locked in the physical relationship shows that it is worth to look back on the novels written by the female writers of the 1920's.
Moreover the unknown novel "Goo Jung" by Kim Il Yeop has the significance in terms of carefully portraying the inner conflict and sense of longing of female driven from romantic feelings.
