AB - In principle, parody means a type of literature to express jocularly any particular part of a fixed text (work) with its satirical imitation, but today becomes a “typical technique of transformation” which is not only co-textual, and meta-fiction but critical, even though it is not picturized yet because it trends to get much more weight in the literature and mass-culture in these daysSo, parody text can be called as writer’s intentional result made by his own writing strategy.
In writer’s attempt to practice linguistically his particular faith and ideology at that time’s politics, economy, society, and culture, he/she tries to recreate the contents of the parody text by basing original text already known very well.
So to speak, “mother’s pile 1”(1980) by Park Wan-seo is regarded as original text, while “the cuticle (2009) by Kim Ae-ran as parody text. These two text, of whichthe main theme is to reach the successful residence in Seoul, are handling daily life in Seoul during Japanese colonial period in “mother’s pile 1” and just this place and time’s daily Seoul’s aspect completely disclosed to the capitalism in “the Cuticle’Two texts show the real process of residence that the first person “I” is gradually accustomed to the urban city’s life, after leaving from rural country, through his/her reminiscence by using the 1st person.
The “mother’s pile 1” shows his/her life in Seoul through recollection format by the past perfect tense which 8 years’ old ‘I” began 40 years ago, while “the cuticle” is describing Seoul’s daily life through reminiscence which 28 years old’s “I” am living now. “The Cuticle”, the parody text is recreated very well by reflecting 3 types of view points skillfully shown in the motive of “mother’s pile 1”.
They are responsibility for the success as “new woman” and “modernized woman” according to that time’s background, the inner consciousness on the settlement and escape of “I”’s being to reveal double faced contradiction in the space of city, and re-exhibition of daily consumption culture. The parody text has trend to be recreated by disclosing coidentity and difference of the above 3 points regarding the motive between itself and original text.
Furthermore, it is concluded that the original text and parody text shows the reflection by itself, which is accorded with the interference by present is apparently formed with each aesthetic characteristic and distinct personality in accordance with the text.
