The Multi-cultural Narrative Education of “The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly”

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to develop the method of narrative education on “The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly”. This study pursues the combination between literature education and multi-cultural education by exploration of self-identity and multi-cultural reading. At first, this study analyze the narrative, and seek the meaning of the heroine’s escape from everydayness in poultry farm. And then examined the finding her self-identity and transcendence by self-sacrifice. The concept of Maternity from mother-child relationship between the hen and baby duck is an important element in this narrative. The conclusion of this story shows that the finding her self-identity is developed not in the isolated circumstances but in the relationship with the other and in the solidarity of the community. And this study deals with the conversation centered narrative education. The Materials of multi-cultural literature does not specify particular. It is important to success of multi-cultural reading.
