ABSTRACT

This study reviewed the suitability of the contents of Korean grammar in the part of Korean language for learning in Standard Korean Language(for Elementary School Students) compiled by 2012 KSL curriculum. KSL or KFL education for adults focuses on Korean for communication, but KSL education for elementary school students aims to improve proficiency not only at Korean for communication but at Korean for learning. The part of Korean language for learning in the textbooks contains key words and contents by subjects in Korean, mathematics, social studies, science for improvement on proficiency at Korean language for learning. I focused on the contents of Korean grammar in Korean subject, and adopted economy, basics, utility, sequence, balance as a principle for selecting the contents of Korean grammar in the part of Korean language for learning. In accordance with the principles, I reviewed the suitability of the contents of Korean grammar in the part of Korean language for learning in Standard Korean Language and proposed to add ‘semantic relation of words’ and ‘classification of parts of speech and looking up a word in a Korean dictionary’ to the part of Korean language for learning.
