ABSTRACT

The goal of the study is to examine how the Japanese accept Yun Dong-ju, who has been remembered as a national resistance poet in Korea. In this study meet readers who are the main subjects of memory rather than Yun Dong-ju who is the target of the memory. In the process of historical reflection on colonial rule and war, the study looked at the meaning of Yun Dong-ju to Japanese readers, and further to see if he could achieve universality as a poet of the world. The Japanese's acceptance of Yun Dong-joo, which was analyzed around three codes of memory, record and commemoration, is summarized as follows. First, Japanese scholars’ research on Yun Dong-joo focuses mainly on empirical methodologies for the study of writers and bibliography. But writers are now free to speak with an interest in the practice of dealing with the situation of the times, here and now. Second, the paper introduced the way Japanese people remember and commemorate the poet through various activities of Yun Dong-joo's readers' clubs in various Japanese cities. Third, The paper analyzed the image of Yun Dong-joo created by Japanese TV broadcasting as an example of a documentary by Fukuoka RKB Broadcasting Company, and thought about the meaning of Yun Dong-joo's presence in Korea-Japan relations. And took a look at Yun Dong-ju's poem in the Japanese modern literature textbook and the acceptance of Yun Dong-ju's literature by Japanese students. Based on this analysis of the acceptance patterns, we should extract our tasks for dialogue and cooperation between the readers of both Korea and Japan in the future. Now is the time to seek the globalization of Yun Dong-joo's literature through dialogue between readers of both Korea and Japan.
