AB - The purpose of this paper is to examine the linguistic characteristics of Korean language textbook and grammar book for Haneoipmun(韓語入門, 1880), written by Hoseko Shigegatsu. First of all, the purpose of this Korean textbook was analyzed through the preface. In addition, it was already revealed for the first time that Eohakhunmong(語學訓蒙, 1789), written by Kabe in Japan at the time, was in the original form of Haneoipmun(韓語入門)’s text in relation to the grammar description and its terms. Through the description system of the text and the table of contents organization, it was confirmed that almost all of the grammatical terms in Haneoipmun(韓語入門) were already set by Kabe in Eohakhunmong(語學訓蒙). In addition, we evaluated the linguistic value of the Korean language reflected in Haneoipmun(韓語入門) by examining each item. Also, from the perspective of Korean language education history, the significance of the language history of this textbook was discussed. In conclusion, this study emphasized that it is an important part to be dealt with in the history of not only Korean language education but also Japanese studies for Korean.
