AB - This study examines how health information seeking through platform media influences health-promoting behavior among older adults. Specifically, it investigates whether this relationship is mediated by e-health literacy and whether active use of platform media plays a moderating role. To achieve this, platform media were categorized into four types: video streaming services, instant messengers, social media, and search engines. A survey was conducted among South Korean adults aged 65 and older to collect data. The findings are as follows. The effect of health information seeking on health-promoting behavior was significant only in video streaming services. The impact of e-health literacy on health-promoting behavior was significant only for search engines. Health information seeking through platform media significantly influenced e-health literacy in video streaming services, instant messengers, and search engines. Furthermore, the indirect effect of health information seeking on health-promoting behavior, mediated by e-health literacy, was also significant for these three platform types. However, active use of platform media was found to have a moderating effect only in video streaming services. By examining health information-seeking behavior among older adults in greater detail, this study provides insights into effective health communication strategies in the context of an aging society.
