ABSTRACT

This study aimed to drive the political and practical implications for the people -who participate in self-sufficient program by examining the mediating effects of emotional self-sufficiency between staffs, colleagues satisfaction, and economic self-sufficiency. It also examined the effects of staff, colleagues satisfaction, and emotional self-sufficiency on economic self-sufficiency. To collect data, 274 participants living in Seoul were surveyed on December 2008. Both multiple linear and logistic regression analyses were adopted in order to verify the mediating effects and the casual relationship between the variables. Through the analyses, it was found that only the level of emotional self-sufficiency increased whereas those of staff and colleagues satisfaction increased. The results also showed that the level of emotional self-sufficiency worked as a parameter in the relationships between staff, colleague satisfaction, and economic self-sufficiency. Based on the findings, implications for practice and policy are highlighted as follows: 1) the staff should have an opportunity for developing their professionalism, 2) community spirit should be increased in the self-sufficient program, 3) the self-sufficient program must be evaluated through a psychological method, 4) intervention for emotional self-sufficiency should be implemented to increase economic self-sufficiency, 5) detailed manners should be made for recipients to stand on their own feet.
