ABSTRACT

The Korean War in 1951 was not only a big event of the world, but also had a great impact to Taiwan. When the war began, US President Harry Truman ordered the United States Seventh Fleet to guard Taiwan, thus changed the situation of Taiwan. President Chiang Kai-shek offered to join the war, hoping that might be an opportunity to fight back Mainland China. Though his plan didn't succeed, he still paid close attention to the development of the war, and also had his opinions about the Korean War Armistice Agreement. This paper is based on the recently released informations about Chiang Kai-shek, also refers to governmental documents and personal memoir, to talk about his perception and reaction of the Korean War.
