ABSTRACT

Kim Yu-shin's activities began after Daeya Castle fell in 642, whenhebecametheAbryangjugunju.ThismeansthatKimYu-shin became dedicated to the Daebaek Festival, and it later became an important turning point for the War against Baekje. Until 642, Silla was on the defensive, but began attacking Baekje in 644. Also, this was shown by Kim Yushin's active activities in the Jindeok period. TheWaragainstBaekjeof648wascarriedoutincloseconnection with Daedang diplomacy promoted by Kim Chun-chu. Therefore, Kim Yu-shin's activities at the War against Baekje influenced Kim Chun-chu's diplomacy policy toward Tang, and also played an important role in establishing the Silla-Tang Alliance. With the recapture of Daeya Castle in 648, the civil war between SillaandBaekjewasreversed.Baekje'spowerweakenedduetoheavy military damage, and this later became an important cause of its destruction.
