ABSTRACT

Islamic economic idea has derived from the general concept in Shari'a (Islamic law). Islamic economic principle is based on a system that is assessed as a third system that cannot be capitalism nor socialism. The major paradigm of Islamic thought was introduced by the Prophet Muhammad 13 centuries ago, and the ideas were enforced as Islamic regulations. Basic idea of Islamic economics can refer to the application of Islamic law to modern economic activity. It can be adapted to production, consumption, and investment with modern business formulation. This paper studies an economic system as well as norm, a major role played by the state in such matters as circulation and equitable distribution of wealth and ensuring participants in the marketplace to be rewarded by being exposed to risk or liability. The paradigm of necessity is more limited than general capitalistic market where the state does not follow Islamic law in Islamic society.
