ABSTRACT

In this article, I analyzed the role of music presented in diverse forms in order to participate in religion in the existing religion phenomenon based on Jeung-san's Thoughts. The elements of music that have been variously applied in the religions of the world, from doctrines to rituals, have in fact played a major role in the participation of religious people in the religious phenomenon of their faith. The meaning of music in Jeung-san's Thoughts was divided into several parts. First, I compared and analyzed some meanings of Jeung-san's Thoughts for order and reconciliation. A concrete example of this is Jeon Gyoung. In this scripture we have suggested that the musical element played an essential role in Jeung-san's thoughts. Second, I focused on the form of consciousness of Jeung-san's Thoughts. I will draw the meaning of music from this while focusing on different aspects of the form of the existing rites of religion. For example, it will be noted that when rituals are made for God, rituals are distinguished from rituals performed in existing rituals. The rhythmic flow of the body and limbs and the rhythm of the rituals on the top and bottom of the heaven and the soul are not mere actions in carrying out the rituals in Daesoon Thoughts. The continuity of the movement based on a constant rhyme will confirm that this is another area of a correlation with music. Third, I pointed out the goal of reading and reconciling the doctrine. Jeung-san's Thoughts can be a certain rhyme when it reads the doctrine. In other words, the musical elements are inherent and carried out through various doctrines. And the goal of continuing the training of Jeung-san's Thoughts is ‘naturally-harmony’. The Jeung-san's Thoughts is oriented to ‘Eumyanghapdeok’, ‘Harmony of God and Human-beings’, ‘HaewonSangsaeng’, ‘DotongJingyeong’. This means a natural 'naturally-harmony' from artificial 'reconciliation', and the basis of this has always been the role of music.
