AB - This study focused on the fact that Chinese language learners make more textual error than grammatical error when using the third-person pronoun ‘ta.’ Language errors are usually influenced by the mother tongue and by the target language. This study conducted a contrastive analysis of third-person pronouns in Chinese and Korean and the text analysis of the Chinese third-person pronoun ‘ta.’ Specifically, it analyzed the grammatical position distribution and the correspondence frequency of the third person pronouns in the parallel corpus between Chinese and Korean language, and measured a topic continuity related to text anaphoric relationships, i.e., NP anaphora, pronominal anaphora, and zero anaphora. In analyzing errors related to the third-person pronoun ‘ta’ made by learners, this study specifically classified and described omission, addition, and replacement errors.
This study was meaningful in that it analyzed the cause of errors related to the Chinese third-person pronoun ‘ta’ made by Korean learners of Chinese language and analyzed them from the viewpoint of text anaphoric relationship.
