ABSTRACT

Music is the common language of human beings. At the same time, music in different countries also contains their own characteristics and cultural traditions. It is an effective and pleasant way to understand a country's history, ideology and folklore. Therefore, this paper attempts to improve students' language ability as well as their understanding of the Korean culture through the teachings of Korean traditional music. The paper first describes the importance of cultural and artistic content teaching in Korean language instruction, and then discusses the current situations and shortcomings of Korean traditional music in Korean language teaching. Finally, taking Ganggangsulae, a Korean traditional circle-dance game ballad selected as the world cultural heritage, as the research object, it designs the education plan of Korean traditional music for foreign students who study Korean. Through the teaching of Korean traditional music, students' abilities in vocabulary learning, language application and the understanding of Korean traditional culture are expected to be enhanced.
