The object of this study is to analyze male and female illustrations in Chinese elementary textbooks in terms of gender equality. It is to analyze 52 textbooks published by the People's Education Publishing House and Jiangsu Education Publishing Company in China's elementary schools, Morality and Law, Dignity and Society, and Chinese male and female Character artwork. The major findings are as follows. First, there were more males than females, and according to their family status, the difference in frequency between grandparents and grandparents, grandparents and grandchildren, grandchildren and granddaughter was not significant, but sons appeared much more than daughters. Second, the size of the men and women was compared by the height of the men and women. The size of men and women was the most similar, and the men were larger than the women. Third, in the background of appearance, women were more than men, especially mothers and grandparents were more than father and grandparents, but children were much more sons than daughters. Fourth, in terms of occupation, female teachers were more than male teachers, male students were more than female students, and male employees were more than female employees. Fifth, attire was more male than formal attire, and most of them were skirt suits. In addition, women wear aprons 5.5 times more than men. In the sixth physical characteristics, men appeared in a more comfortable and strong posture, while women appeared in a soft and feminine form. Through these results, Chinese school education was able to confirm solid gender stereotypes in textbooks, despite various institutional mechanisms for gender equality.
