ABSTRACT

The study on idioms has acquired remarkable achievement on the diachronic and synchronic aspects up to now. From the viewpoint of linguistics, the analysis on syntactic structure, phonetic tones, and semantic collocation has been considerably abundant as well as the solid theory foundation. Based on the previous findings, the research objects, research category, research process and the research purpose are listed as follows: The research object is the Chinese four-character idioms with the character ‘chun’. The selection of ‘chun’ is not merely because of its rich meaning, and the more important aspect is that the structures of these idioms are coordinated mostly, which hold pertinence meaning on the study of paratactic idioms. The research category is originated from the viewpoint of linguistics, and it classified them based on different standards, and analyzed them about the syntactic structure, morphological features, same character but different order, as well as the semantic collocation, etc. The research process is divided into four parts. Firstly, the idioms were analyzed according to the position of the character ‘chun’. Secondly, the order difference was examined. Thirdly, the idioms were observed according to the lexical collocation of‘chun’. Finally, the conclusion was drawn. The aim of this study was the compiling of idiom textbook which could provide a firm corpus basis as well as a theoretical foundation.
