AB - This thesis is to examine the common rituals of Japan and China, focusing on the records of the Joseon missions sent to Japan and China in the 18th century, and to examine the recognition and meaning of the Joseon mission.
Funeral ritual is one of the rites of passage that human beings are born and live in the world and die. It is a precept that was considered important regardless of which country. In Japan, Buddhism was laid throughout life and commissioned a ceremony to the temple. Thethe chief mourner don't wear amourning dress. He also did not show sadness to others, caller or expressing tears outward. a condoler. The missions have practiced daily rituals according to Confucian courtesy. The Buddhist rituals in Japan, which were reflected in their eyes, were seen as the customs of the barbarian who did not know the manners. The mission had a justified cultural superiority that it could enlighten Japan by conveying the artifacts through the Envoys to Japan. However, some of the speculators abandoned their preconceptions about Japan and tried to objectively view Japan based on what they actually saw and heard. The delegations who participated in the Chinese concert saw and objectively recorded the Chinese rituals as they were. The mission asked the Chinese Sunbee about the strange part of the ceremony and solved it, and it was generally positive about the Qing Dynasty customs. Basically, the mission was a philanthropy, a ritual of cherishment, During the period of diplomacy, I was able to experience the whole society of the country and meet local people and interact with each other to see the change of consciousness.
