ABSTRACT

'Chat GPT'(The AI chatbot) Open AI, and Google‘s Bard which was released in November 2022 and May 2023, respectively, triggers us ontological reflection on the relationship with non-human objects that will be more actively contacted in the metaverse world in the future. NPCs(Non Player/Playable Characters), who will communicate freely through chatting like real people in the game, as in the movie <Free Guy>(2021), which presented the future of evolved NPCs, are the most representative examples of such non-human objects. In order to develop the ontology of NPCs as examples of non-human objects that are attracting the most attention in the age of Chat GPT and the metaverse of Web 3, this paper referred to thoughts and the key concepts of Western speculative realists such as Levi Bryant's subjectless object, Timothy Morton's symbiotic real, and Ian Bogost's Alien phenomenology. Furthermore, through the concept of 'Middle Voice' of Koichiro Kokubun, who wants to think of a immanent space of Middle-voiced transformation beyond the active/passive scheme, I examine the true meaning of active symbiotic practice with non-human objects.
