ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to verify the mediating effect of growth mindset on the effect of smartphone addiction on depression in office workers. The subjects of the study were office workers living in Chungcheong, Seoul, and Daejeon, a total of 286 people. The data were analyzed using SPSS PC+ Win. Ver. 25 for descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and mediating effect regression analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, smartphone addiction showed differences according to age and marital status among general characteristics. Second, smartphone addiction showed a negative correlation with growth mindset and a positive correlation with depression. Third, the results of the regression analysis showed that growth mindset had a mediating effect between smartphone addiction and depression in men. However, growth mindset did not show a mediating effect between smartphone addiction and depression in women. Based on these results, future research directions were suggested and policy measures were proposed.
