AB - This study explored the relationship between dream interpretation and lifestyle among youth activists, aiming to understand their personal lifestyles through dream interpretation and thereby illuminate the various difficulties they face. Utilizing Colaizzi's analytical method within a phenomenological research framework, the study was conducted over 12 months with 9 youth activists aged 20 to 27 who are active in the Korea YMCA. The research findings indicated that participants experienced inner exploration and growth through dream card interpretation based on Adler's individual psychology, and their dream content was related to irregular sleep patterns. Furthermore, they gained a sense of belonging and satisfaction through social participation, valued trust and respect in family and interpersonal relationships, and tended to define success not by material wealth but by a sense of accomplishment and the ability to help others. This study suggests that dream interpretation can contribute to enhancing youth activists' self-awareness and psychological resilience, and that an individual psychological counseling approach is significant in promoting psychological well-being and emotional stability. However, this study was limited to male and female youth activists aged 20 to 27 engaged in public interest activities (both paid and unpaid) at the National Council of YMCAs of Korea (Korea YMCA National Alliance), which limits the generalizability of the participation experience. Therefore, future research is suggested to target youth activists active in diverse fields.
