In Xi Jinping era, China’s policy towards the Overseas Chinese(OC) become changed in many aspects. First of all, policy guideline is aligned with the Chinese Communist Party(CCP)’s new doctrines such as ‘Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,’ ‘National Rejuvenation,’ and ‘Chinese Dream.’ Here, roles of OC in a more globalized world become important. OC become partners with the CCP in driving China’s national projects such as ‘One Belt One Road.’ Also in concept of Chinese nation (Zhonghua minzu), OC start to be included in the name of Chinese compatriot (tongbao). For these national tasks above, CCP changes roles of institutions related to the OC affairs in the CCP and in the Chinese government. OC Affairs Office in State Council organizes several networks and pushes programs for OC affairs, particularly in Chinese culture and language education, with related government bodies, social mass organizations in China and educational bodies abroad. With these initiatives, CCP is driving a very active policies towards OC in Xi Jinping era.
