AB - Korean government published climate atlas 4 times in 1962, 1991, a2001, and 2012. Especially, 2012 climate atlas of korea was generated using GIS-based technology replacing conventional manual contour drawing techniques. This study aims to solve some problems occurring in climate map making processes and propose some policies to convert climate maps from simple maps to GIS databases. In base map generation, base map generation methods and quality control methods of observation stations are proposed. In interpolation, kriging and polygonal interpolation methods are proposed and class intervals and color scheme are designated. Futhermore, future environments and some policies to generate climate maps are proposed.
