ABSTRACT

Although Korean education emphasizes creative and convergent education, the perception of geospatial technology is very low as an important element of creative and convergent education. Also, it is very difficult for schools to implement education using geospatial technology. The purpose of this study is to develope the instructional module using smart phones and geospatial technology and examine the educational effects of the module developed. To this end, ‘the Making Community Noise Maps’ was developed using smart phones and geospatial technology. Then the developed module was conducted normal school hours, a self-regulating club activity, and a creative experience activity program. As a result applied to the school, there are significant changes in three areas: interest in their community, knowledge about geospatial technology, and ability to utilize geospatial technology. In addition, both students and teachers were found to be positive about the lesson using smart phones and geospatial technology in terms of interest, utility, and so on.
