Objectives : Deciding whether a year will be a Normal Qi Year is an important task within the study of Five Periods. Normal Qi Year, a period of peace and calmness, comes when agiven year's elements are neither excessive nor deficient. There is, however, no unifieddefinition for Normal Qi Year. This paper is written to propose a definition that couldserve as such. Methods : Somunyukgihyunjumileo, various masters' opinions, and conventional Chinese scholars' claims were studied based on Hwnagjenaegyeong to produce this paper. Results : Within The Year of Sehoi(歲會年), only four years are Normal Qi Years and the other four years are not Normal Qi Years. The six years of Jehwa(齊化) are all Normal Qi Years because excessive elements are suppressed. The six years of Donghwa are all Normal Qi Years because deficient elements are bolstered. The years of Dongsehoi (同歲會) are all Normal Qi Years. All of the six elemental deficient years of the Year of Sunhwa(順化年), when the energy of Heaven emanates elements, are all Normal Qi Years. Conclusions : Not counting the overlapping Normal Qi Years during a periodical circle of 60years, there is a total of 23 Normal Qi Years: the years of Eulchuk(乙丑), Jeongmyo(丁卯), Mujin(戊辰), Gyeongo(庚午), Shinmi(辛未), Gyeyu(癸酉), Eulyu(乙酉), Jeonghe(丁亥), Gichuk(己丑), Gyeongin(庚寅), Shimnyo(辛卯), Gyesa(癸巳), Eulmi(乙未), Musul(戊戌), Gyeongja(庚子), Shinchuk(辛丑), Gyemyo(癸卯), Eulmyo(乙卯), Jeongsa(丁巳), Gimi(己未), Gyeongshin(庚申), Shinyu(辛酉), and Gyehye(癸亥).

Objectives : The practice of bloodletting therapy has taken place for several millenia all over the world. The therapy is still one of the most popular oriental treatments in Korea. This paper studies bloodletting therapy in Huangdineijing to provide the Korean Medicine doctors with knowledge of the therapy to effectively utilize it in their clinics. Methods : The author studied all of the diseases treated by bloodletting therapy in Huangdineijing, and placed them into three categories: the visceral and bowel diseases, the meridian diseases, and miscellaneous diseases. The author reviewed reference documents that show clinical experiences of using the therapy and the results from the research on the therapy’s therapeutic dynamics. Results : The treatment principals such as diagnostic methods, meridian points selection, acupuncture methods, and tools for the bloodletting therapy were provided. Most of the diseases treated by the therapy were identified by the visceral pattern identification or meridian pattern identification except miscellaneous diseases. The characteristics of the diseases treated by the therapy were studied and the diseases were placed into categories such as fever, pain, qi counterflow, first-aid, mental disease, and deep-seated disease. Theoretical basis of the mechanism of bloodletting therapy was drawn from several researches and a number of clinical theses related to bloodletting therapy. Conclusions : Results of this study on bloodletting therapy in Huangdineijing could be a useful knowledge for the Korean medicine doctors to be utilized their clinics. Future studies on this type of therapy should be performed to identify the diseases that may be effectively treated by bloodletting therapy.

Objectives : The paper analyzes food cure recipes related to wind diseases as written in Sikuisimgam, Eumsunjungyo·Shikyojaebyeong, and Singnyochanyo. The paper shall then use results of the analysis to consider food cure recipes utilized by patients who are suffering from wind diseases or who are showing symptoms of wind diseases. The paper aims to help cure modern diseases related to wind diseases and make a set of suggestion about preventive foods. Methods : Important dietary guidebooks in Korea and China were studied, and the author studied only the ones among the food cure recipes that had wind diseases for which they are effective. Sikuisimgam 16 species, Eumsunjungyo·Shikyojaebyeong 13 species, Singnyochanyo 13 species of food cure recipes related to wind diseases were extracted, and they were studied based on their ingredients, cooking style, and administration time. Results : There are food ingredients introduced as effective for curing wind diseases within Sikuisimgam, Eumsunjungyo·Shikyojaebyeong, and Singnyochanyo. Among them, some of the ones that can be utilized in the modern age are: arrowroot(葛粉), nepta herb(荊芥), Baekryangmi(白粱米), Dongmaja(冬麻子), milled rice(白米), Eokiin(薏苡人), fermented soybean(豉), chongbaek(葱白), Wubanggeun(牛蒡根), soy beans(大豆), grass(椒), xanthium fruit(蒼耳子), changi leaves(蒼耳葉), jinpi(陳皮), black pepper(胡椒), ginger(生薑), mint leaves(薄荷葉), suyu(酥油), heukjima(黑脂麻), ojagye(烏雌雞), chives(韭), and Baekyuma(白油麻). Conclusions : The food ingredients extracted from Sikuisimgam, Eumsunjungyo·Shikyojaebyeong, and Singnyochanyo are effective in curing wind diseases, and they should be processed in ways that enable the people of this age to consume more of them. Moreover, people who have not yet suffered from wind diseases but are showing the symptoms of wind diseases will benefit from taking care of their blood pressure by consuming these foods in their everyday lives. Such people will serve as examples of good food cure recipes.
