ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a method that maximizes data collection in wireless sensor networks where energy harvesting sensor nodes periodically collect environmental data and occasionally transmit urgent data to a sink node, using two transmission techniques. The proposed method utilizes both LoRa (Low Range Radio) and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technologies: small periodic sensing data is transmitted using LoRa in a single-hop manner to enhance energy efficiency, while large-volume urgent data is quickly transmitted using BLE in a multi-hop manner. Sensor nodes reserve energy for urgent data transmission based on their energy status, using the remaining energy to determine the optimal sensing interval, thus improving energy efficiency. Experimental results show that the proposed method enables stable transmission of urgent data through efficient energy use, increasing the amount of sensing data collected while preventing energy depletion in sensor nodes.
