ABSTRACT

This study aimed to develop and verify the effectiveness of a love-of-country learning program using artificial intelligence (AI) and a metaverse platform for fifth-grade elementary school students. To achieve this, prior research on AI convergence education, the utilization of metaverse platforms in education, and digital cultural content for love-of-country education was analyzed. Based on the ADDIE instructional design model, a six-session learning program was designed, incorporating activities such as experiencing independence activists in a metaverse environment and creating chatbots to understand AI technologies. The results showed a significant improvement in students' awareness of patriotism and recognition of national heroes, with students expressing active interest and engagement. This study is significant as it proposes a new instructional approach by integrating metaverse and AI technologies into love-of-country education. It demonstrates the potential of this novel program to positively influence elementary school students’ awareness and attitudes toward patriotism.
