ABSTRACT

This study is a meta-analysis study through a systematic review of domestic academic studies that evaluated the effects of music therapy on state anxiety, blood pressure, and pulse in surgical patients. Data collection was conducted from March 15 to October 30, 2024 in compliance with the Cochrane Collaboration's reporting guidelines for systematic reviews. A total of 74 papers were searched through domestic databases, and eight studies were finally selected based on the removal of duplicate papers and selection criteria. As a result of applying music therapy to domestic surgical patients, it was found to have a significant effect on state anxiety -0.95, systolic blood pressure -0.34, diastolic blood pressure -0.24 , and pulse -0.48. In other words, music therapy was found to be effective in reducing the state anxiety of surgical patients. It was also effective in reducing systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and pulse within the normal range. Based on this study, it can be used as basic data for the evidence base for applying music therapy intervention in nursing settings. However, due to the lack of research, continued research on applying music therapy intervention is needed.
