ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate what effects a case management program had on life satisfaction and self-efficacy of the elderly. The subjects of the study were 70 elderly people aged over 65 living in K city. For the purpose, the pre-and pro tests of the program were conducted to them. As a result, it was discovered that of the sub-factors of life satisfaction of the subjects, self-satisfaction and reality satisfaction changed significantly after the program. Of the sub-factors of self-efficacy, self-confidence changed significantly. The results indicated that the case management program had statistically significant positive effects on life satisfaction and self-efficacy of the subjects. In particular, to enhance life satisfaction and self-efficacy of the elderly, college students visited the subjects to provide the following practical services: being chatting partners, providing educational services on health and safety and improving residential environment. It was concluded that the services were very effective. Further, to enhance life satisfaction and self-efficacy of the elderly, the government should provide political support to encourage them to participate in diverse social and economic activities along with community colleges and college students.
